A Jefferson City man was sentenced Wednesday to 30 years in prison for robbing and shooting a man in October 2011. Demetrius Boyce, 26, was found guilty of first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and armed criminal action during a two-day trial in late July.
Judge Dan Green sentenced Boyce to 30 years for the robbery count, 15 years for the assault count, and 10 years for the armed criminal action count, with the sentence in each count to run concurrently with one another.
Under state law, Boyce must serve at least 85 percent of the robbery and armed criminal action counts before he is eligible for parole.
Boyce used a handgun to shoot a man in the leg in the 500 block of Lafayette Street after robbing him of cash.
