Dear Editor:
The result of the presidential election was a sad day for our nation and future generations. It is a picture of the arrogance and rebellion permeating our society in these evil days. We have become selfish, demanding and godless in every area of life.
Those who claim to be Christians and take Scripture out of context to justify their support of government programs are missing the most important thing. God will not share his glory with another. When we place a person or government program above the creator we will suffer the curses He promised. Jesus said we would always have the poor among us, but it is the responsibility of the family, individuals and the Church to give charity to the needy. Abdicating our individual responsibility and giving it to a power-hungry government will guarantee the beginning of bondage and tyranny and the end of our democratic Republic.
True Christians will not support the murder of innocent life in the womb, the suppression of religious freedoms or the dishonoring of the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman.
Barack Hussein Obama, who says he is a Christian, has been re-elected as president of the United States. However, Scripture says we shall know them by their fruits. When our president supports abortion without restrictions, even up to the point of birth, and has evolved in his thinking to believe that homosexual marriage should be legalized, and by executive order declaring that every area of our lives should be under the authority of the United States federal government, we should be very alarmed.
How many harbingers must we receive before we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God? Where are the honorable men and women of faith like our Founding Fathers that will publicly proclaim that we are in need of the divine intervention of Almighty God and call us to gather together as one nation under God to fast, repent and pray for His forgiveness and healing?
Even with all the devastation on the East Coast, I have not heard one governor or mayor calling the people to come together in prayer. Rather we see anger, cursing, division, and the turning away of citizens and Christian organization wanting to offer help in order that FEMA can be praised.
That great American, President Ronald Reagan, made a very profound statement when he said, "If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, we will be a nation gone under."
