The black bullet-proof SWAT vest all but engulfed Aaron Sackman, a sixth-grader at St. Joseph Cathedral School. But trying on the police equipment was a bit like trying on his dream, because Sackman said, someday, he might want to be a police officer.

After shrugging off the vest and helmet so that other students could wear it, too, he said: "It felt like I was really protected. And it was heavy. But I think I would rather wear that, than get shot."
