Grandson picks up $10,000 lottery ticket

A Lohman woman's grandson recently brought home the bacon for her, as he selected a $10,000 winning ticket for her during a trip to grocery store.

Lucinda Lidgard, 65, Lohman, was talking to her grandson Tim James on the telephone while he was grocery shopping in early May at Schulte's Fresh Foods, 1904 Southwest Blvd., in Jefferson City. She asked him to bring her a lottery ticket.

At first, Lidgard thought the "$100,000 Crossword" ticket James bought had a $100 prize. After she found "a lot of words" on her ticket, she began to think maybe she'd won more.

"My granddaughter checked and said it was $10,000," Lidgard recalled. "My daughter works at a convenience store, and she double checked and said it was $10,000."
