Court change to be part of Nov. 6 ballot

Missouri lawmakers want voters to consider changing the way judges are appointed to the state's appeals and Supreme courts.

Gov. Jay Nixon said Friday that vote will be part of the Nov. 6 general election.

"I think November is the (right) time to put ... that particular measure in front of voters," Nixon told reporters during a 25-minute news conference following the end of the 2012 legislative session.

Late last week, lawmakers sent the Constitutional proposal to the ballot, asking voters statewide to change parts of the 70-year-old Nonpartisan Court Plan that's known around the nation as the "Missouri" plan.
