Gary Waint to be county's interim court administrator

May 7th, 2012 in News

Retirement isn't lasting very long for Missouri's former Deputy Administrator in the Office of State Courts Administrator.

Gary Waint retired from his state job just last Monday.

And he's about to become Cole County's interim court administrator, in the wake of Gov. Jay Nixon's naming Marilue Hemmel as the new circuit clerk.

"Gary's got a lot of resources that he has available, and he's been in the court system, I think, for 30-plus years," Presiding Circuit Judge Pat Joyce explained. "So, this is an opportunity, without having to go through an interview process."

Waint served as as a juvenile officer in Moberly, and served on the Missouri Juvenile Justice Advisory Group for many years, before joining OSCA.

He earned a graduate degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and their brief biography of him said he "initiated many innovative research (projects) on important issues facing juvenile and criminal courts."
