Rep. Caleb Jones drives a Ford Taurus.
On Monday afternoon, he took a ride in an all-electric Ford Focus, one of several vehicles the Michigan-based automaker is taking around the country to promote their vision of transportation's future.
"It felt completely different, whenever you got in the car and there was no ignition to start up - you didn't hear anything," Jones, R-California, said. "It was a very informative and a pretty unique experience."
And that's the purpose of Ford's "Power of Choice" tour, said Tony Reinhart, Ford's Kansas City-based regional director of government and community relations - and a former Jefferson City resident.
"We're trying to highlight Ford's "sustainability program,' which is to become more fuel efficient across our system," Reinhart explained, "whether it's internal combustion engines with our "EcoBoost,' or with our electrification program, or natural gas or ethanol - whatever it might be."
