In just a few hours of work, spread out over a week, local Boys Scouts were able to raise more than 20,000 pounds of food during the annual Scouting for Food food drive this weekend.

Scouting for Food is a nationwide Boys Scout project that began years ago as an Eagle Scout project and quickly took off across the nation.

Locally, the event is one of the biggest food drives held, and is especially helpful to agencies like the Samaritan Center, First United Methodist food bank and more.
