Lincoln U sued over teaching records

June 12th, 2012 in News

Accusing Lincoln University officials of violating Missouri's "Sunshine" Law, a national group trying to study teacher education programs has sued the Jefferson City college.

"The National Council on Teacher Quality made a request for various public records of Lincoln University including, among other things, actual course syllabi given to students in the teacher preparation courses," the 10-page lawsuit, filed late Monday afternoon, said.

"Despite the clear mandates of Missouri's Sunshine Law, Lincoln University has employed delay tactics and established excessive and unnecessary hurdles to (the council's) right to public access to Lincoln University's records."

A Lincoln spokeswoman said Monday evening school officials didn't have a comment on the suit or its claims.
