KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The chairman of the board of Kansas City's Union Station is stepping down from that position.
Mike Haverty announced his plans to leave the position Friday. He has led Union Station since 2005. Bob Regnier, president and chief executive of the Bank of Blue Valley, was elected to succeed him as chairman of the board.
The Kansas City Star reports (http://bit.ly/K2SevT) that Haverty joined Union Station when the station was running multimillion-dollar deficits. The massive building now has a positive cash flow.
Haverty, executive chairman of Kansas City Southern, will remain on the Union Station board of directors.
Other members of the Union Station board showed their appreciation by naming the pedestrian link between Union Station and the Freight House area the Michael R. Haverty Bridge.
