Cole County Circuit Judge Jon Beetem spent an hour Thursday listening to legal arguments about how Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan should count the signatures on initiative petition proposals - then gave the lawyers until noon Monday to file any other arguments they might have.
Beetem's hearing came just a week after Kansas City lawyer Eddie Greim filed a 14-page lawsuit against Carnahan on behalf of a Clay County man who's against the proposed initiative petition that would limit the interest rates that "payday loan" businesses can charge.
