18 apply for Missouri Supreme Court seat

July 18th, 2012 in News

At least five people who were assistant attorneys general when Gov. Jay Nixon was Missouri's chief lawyer have applied to succeed Judge William Ray Price Jr. on the state Supreme Court.

Price, 60, who has served on the high court since April 1992, is resigning Aug. 1 to return to private practice.

Nixon will choose Price's successor later this year from a list of three names submitted by the Appellate Judicial Commission from among the 18 applicants.

The commission said Tuesday it will interview all 18 applicants on Oct. 10 at the state Supreme Court building, beginning at 10 a.m.
