Scholastic is known worldwide for being the world's largest distributor of children's books. On Tuesday in Jefferson City, it was recognized for its work with a decidedly older group.

At a ceremony at the company's Algoa Road warehouse, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon presented Scholastic Cooperation with the Freedom Flag, which recognizes the company's involvement in the Show-Me Heroes program.

Show-Me Heroes was established in 2010 after a visit to Afghanistan in which a soldier, about to go on patrol, told Nixon that his biggest concern was a job when he returned home.
