CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) - It is the peak of the flu season, and the number of cases is on the rise in the St. Louis area.
St. Louis County health officials reported 122 new cases of the flu for the week ending Feb. 5 - more than double the 52 cases from the previous week. Two weeks ago, there were just 17 new cases.
For the season, St. Louis County has recorded 279 confirmed cases of influenza. Most were Type A, and those who were sick were largely in the ages 2 to 14 category.
Health officials say it is not too late to get a flu shot.
