Many children in Mid-Missouri live in a homeless-defined situation. And mentoring programs need more venues for the mentor and mentee to go.
Those are among many of the reasons the HALO (Helping Art Liberate Orphans) Foundation has committed to opening a domestic center in Jefferson City.
The not-for-profit, founded by a Jefferson City native, has been working with orphans in African nations for many years.
The Common Ground Community Building at 1015 E. Atchison St. presented the opportunity to expand its work, said local board member Joyce Neuenswander.
