ST. LOUIS (AP) - Passenger traffic is up at Lambert Airport in St. Louis.
Airport officials say nearly 6.3 million passengers boarded planes at Lambert in 2011, a 2 percent increase over 2010. Officials say that's quite an achievement considering the challenges the airport faced.
Among those challenges was a significant cutback by American Airlines. The airport was also struck by a Good Friday tornado that briefly shut it down and closed one concourse through the rest of the year.
Southwest Airlines was the busiest carrier at Lambert, with 45 percent of outbound traffic. American was next with 17 percent of the market, followed by Delta Air Lines with 14 percent.
