JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Missouri attorney general's office says it fielded more than 22,000 calls last year complaining about unwanted telemarketing calls.
Attorney General Chris Koster says telemarketing complaints were the most common consumer complaint his office received last year. He says many of the unwanted calls went to people's cellphones, which are not covered under the state no-call law.
A state Senate committee has endorsed legislation that would let people put cellphone numbers on Missouri's no-call list, which is now limited to land lines. The bill would also forbid telemarketers from sending unwanted images or text messages to a cellphone if the number is on the no-call list.
