Upgraded charges sought after Mo. grandmother's death

CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) - St. Louis County Police are seeking upgraded charges against a woman who allegedly beat her 92-year-old grandmother, now that the elderly woman has died.

Rachel Armstrong is already charged with first-degree elderly abuse. She is jailed on $75,000 bond and undergoing psychological tests.

Her grandmother, whose name has not been released, died Sunday morning. The case is going to a grand jury and police will ask for upgraded charges.

Police say Armstrong allegedly believed her grandmother was possessed by demons. A police report says Armstrong went to the woman's house, threw her to the ground and stomped on her, breaking both arms and eight ribs.
