Before a First Student bus driver pulls out of the Norman Street location each morning, he or she conducts a 10-point inspection inside and out.
New technology helps drivers be more efficient and swift in this inspection. An electronic wand scans each point and if something needs attention, that information immediately is sent to the corresponding mechanic or supervisor.
The routine inspections are one of myriad steps emphasized by First Student for safety.
"You can never get enough information out about safety; it's what we do," said Frank Underwood, First Student contract manager.
