Part of industrial plant closing in Monett

MONETT, Mo. (AP) - A manufacturing company in southwest Missouri says it will close part of its plant, costing about 140 people their jobs.

Hydro Aluminum announced Wednesday that it plans to close the extrusion portion of its plant in Monett by October.

KSPR reports (http://bit.ly/T4CDAP ) most of the jobs being lost are for heavy equipment operators and maintenance. Some of the workers might qualify for jobs at Hydro Aluminum's other extrusion plants.

Hydro Aluminum serves mostly the construction industry.

The company consolidated its extrusion operations three years ago from Cassville to Monett.
