JC police chase suspect

Jefferson City police have called off an unsuccessful search for a suspect who fled on foot in a wooded neighborhood.

Officers staged a perimeter and searched an area near Carl Lane in the eastern portion of the city after the person they were seeking ran into the woods. An officer and police dog tried to pick up the scent along a wooded creek bed, but could not locate the suspect.

Although police stopped their thorough search of the neighborhood, they are pursuing other leads in the case.

Jefferson City police are currently seeking a suspect that's running from them in an eastern section of the city.

Police are conducting a full-scale search in the neighborhoods around Landwehr Hills Road, Carl Lane and Scenic Drive, south of East McCarty Street. Residents in the area have reported hearing the suspect on foot in the woods.
