Speaker pledges vote on pro-life language for MOSIRA bill

If they don't decide just to quit and go home, state representatives will "have a vote" on what kind of pro-life language to include in the MOSIRA bill being considered during the special session, Speaker Steven Tilley said this week.

"We're not going to use procedural motions to block having a vote on it," he said. "And the will of the body will decide.

"And whatever we decide, we'll send to the Senate."

MOSIRA is the "Missouri Science and Innovation Reinvestment Act" that Gov. Jay Nixon has pushed for a couple of years, and included in his call for the special legislative session that began Sept. 6, as part of the state's effort to increase the number of jobs in the state.

MOSIRA creates a fund to offer incentives for science-based businesses to develop or expand in Missouri.
