Dancing, drinks and of course, dashing dachshunds

Oktoberfest will be celebrated for the 11th year in Jefferson City's rekindled South Side neighborhood 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday.

For the first year, the South Side Business Association will host a Blues, Brews and Brats event following the Oktoberfest activities, 5-10 p.m. in the 100 block of East Dunklin Street.

The German heritage celebration will feature country and bluegrass music styles, as well as traditional German sounds. Whereas, the evening festival will feature a blues sound, noted organizer Cathy Zumwalt.

General festivities will begin at 10 a.m., including craft demonstrations and dance performances. For $3, children will have all-day admission to the children's area, sponsored by the Missouri River Regional Library, which opens at 10 a.m.

Three wineries will be part of the beer garden. And more than 60 vendors are signed up for the day.
