BERLIN (AP) - Germany's Finance Minister says he cannot imagine Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives governing together with a euro-skeptic party, amid an ongoing spat over handling of the European debt crisis.
Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble told the Bild am Sonntag weekly in an interview released Saturday that Merkel's government backs his financial policies concerning Greek debt and the euro.
Schaeuble's comments come a week after Merkel's deputy, Philipp Roesler, openly floated the possibility of an "orderly insolvency" for Greece. Roesler leads the junior coalition partner, the Free Democrats.
Schaeuble, a member of Merkel's Christian Democrats, said he did not expect Roesler's party to back a euro-skeptic course and could not imagine working with a "euro-skeptic party."
