Several Jefferson City area groups have planned events and activities in recognition of Patriots Day. Those events include:
Patriots Day Parade
When: 2 p.m. today
Where: Corner of Broadway and West High streets, down High to Adams Street, left on Adams to Capitol Avenue and west to intersection of Missouri Boulevard. The parade is being sponsored by the emergency service community. Participants are urged to wear red, white and blue. Emergency services personnel will hand out American flags along the parade route.
9/11 Walk
When: 1 p.m. today
Where: Memorial Park Pavilion The event is being sponsored by Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Jefferson City and Table of Grace. Come and celebrate our common humanity and honor the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
Calvary Baptist Church
When: 10:45 a.m. today Where: 1436 Hough St. The church is hosting a special 9/11 service.
Bible Baptist Church
When: 10:30 a.m. today
Where: 4730 Country Club Drive A patriotic service will be held, and a steak dinner will follow for veterans.
Ecumenical Worship Service
When: 5 p.m. today
Where: First Presbyterian Church, 324 Madison St. The service is being sponsored by Protestant pastors of downtown churches. A reception and art display around the theme "Body, Broken and Remembered" will follow the service.
9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance
When: Today
Where: Capital Mall An Honor Wall adjacent to Bath & Body Works will recognize each of the 343 fallen New York firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11.
