KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Security is being increased at Kansas City International Airport as the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks approach.

Law enforcement officers and police dogs will be more visible. And airport spokesman Joe McBride suggests travelers give themselves a little extra time in case they encounter random vehicle security checks.

He says in a news release that travelers should be vigilant about observing their surroundings. If they see something or someone unusual, they should notify airport police.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has said that there is no specific or credible intelligence that al-Qa'ida or its affiliates are plotting attacks in the United States to coincide with the anniversary of 9/11. But she says the nation remains at a heightened state of vigilance.
