Annual tour to spotlight Civil War homes, cemetery

The annual Historic City of Jefferson Homes Tour will break from tradition this year by branching out of one neighborhood and focusing on homes across the community.

This year, the spotlight will be on Civil War-era homes and a cemetery.

Formerly held in June, the 2011 tour will be 1-5 p.m. Sept. 25.

Tickets for the Historic City of Jefferson's Civil War Homes Tour go on sale Tuesday at Samuel's Tuxedos and the Art Bazaar in downtown Jefferson City.

Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 the day of the tour.

The homes tour, which corresponds with the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War, will feature six homes for interior touring and five "drive-by" properties.

The six featured homes include the Dulle-Vogel House, 800 St. Mary's Blvd.; the Wallendorf Log Home, 701 S. Country Club Drive; the Oscar Burch House, 924 Jefferson St.; the Hess House, 714 Washington St.; the Marmaduke House, 700 E. Capitol Ave.; and the Col. Lewis Bolton Home, Wardsville.
