It's 1692, and some of the young women around Salem Village, Mass., are acting really weirdly.

And accusing some of the adults of being witches.

"These people really, really truly believed that witches exist," actor Don Otto said.

And that's where Arthur Miller's 1952, Tony Award-winning play, "The Crucible," starts. Jefferson City's Little Theatre brings that story to life this weekend, at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Friday and Saturday on the Miller Performing Arts Center stage.

"It's a classic piece of American drama," said Keith Enloe, who helped TLT's play-reading committee choose the drama for this season and is its director.

Otto noted Miller used some of the transcripts from the original Salem Witch Trials.
