Man charged in shooting during failed robbery

A Jefferson City man has been charged in connection with an early Thursday morning shooting that took place after a failed robbery attempt.

According to court records, Demetrius Boyce, 25, 717 E. McCarty St., was charged Friday with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and armed criminal action. He was being held on $400,000 bond in the Cole County Jail.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows Boyce used a handgun to shoot a male victim in the 500 block of Lafayette Street.
