Lake benefit raises funds for Missouri March of Dimes

13th Signature Chefs looks to break more records

LAKE OZARK, Mo. - Last year, the Signature Chefs Benefit and Wine Extravaganza broke an all-time record in funds raised for the Missouri March of Dimes.

"We grossed $90,000 last year, which was almost a $20,000 jump from the previous year; we had the best year we've ever had with the Signature Chefs event," said Christy Carel, division director for the Missouri March of Dimes. "Last year, we had, including the chefs, 550 people. We oversold tickets, added tables at the last minute and had a waiting list of 70-80 people."

With the 13th Annual Signature Chefs Benefit Auction and Wine Extravaganza scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Lodge of Four Seasons in Lake Ozark, Carel and her fellow organizers want to see this event grow each year and break even more records for the Missouri March of Dimes.

So far, about 300 guests have bought tickets to sample gourmet dishes, desserts, beverages and other delights from 25 participating and favorite lake area restaurants at Signature Chefs. Signature Chefs allows guests to not only sample the crème de la crème of restaurateurs in the lake area, but also bid on a variety of elegant gift baskets and silent auction items, and wager to win live auction prizes.
