It wasn't a great first day at state for the Helias Crusaders and Lady Crusaders.
"I would have liked to have done better, we tried," Helias track and field coach Tom Emmel said.
Helias was in four events Friday in the Class 3 Championships at Dwight T. Reed Stadium - three boys and one girls. None finished higher than 10th.
"There are some really good teams and individuals at state," Emmel said.
Helias' best performance came from sophomore Michael McCoy, who was 12th in the 1,600-meter run in 4:30.78.
"That's his fastest time he's run all year," Emmel said.
