Jefferson City Council makes leadership change

The Jefferson City Council voted unanimously to terminate the contract of City Administrator Steve Rasmussen. The motion, which was passed 9-0 on May 23 in a closed session following a City Council Work Session, is effective immediately. City Attorney Nathan Nickolaus has been appointed interim city administrator. Plans are under way to a establish a search committee to find a new city administrator.

"The City of Jefferson is on the verge of facing its largest economic boom in history," said Mayor Eric Struemph. "The City Council is committed to leadership that will help the city work toward achieving greater economic prosperity."

Rasmussen said he has enjoyed his service with the city. "It is my understanding that different leadership was desired for the new administration. This is not uncommon in this position," he said. "I respect that desire and have no regrets."
