Missouri works to retain coach

2-year extension, $500,000 raise might keep Anderson in place

March 22nd, 2011 by Bob Holt, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in News

It appears less likely Mike Anderson will leave Missouri to become Arkansas' next basketball coach in light of a preemptive strike by the Tigers.

Missouri officials are working to finalize a contract extension and raise for Anderson to remain the Tigers' coach according to a report in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The new deal would extend Anderson's existing contract two more years to make it seven years total and raise his annual compensation from $1.5 to $2.0 million, the Post-Dispatch reported., citing multiple sources, said it had confirmed the Post-Dispatch report and that "Anderson will eschew outside offers" to stay at Missouri.

However, Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long is still negotiating with Anderson's agent.
