Energy efficiency sounds good. Saving money sounds even better.
High-efficiency appliances, CFL bulbs, drapes that block out the heat and keep in the cool, solar panels, and all the other energy-efficient products on the market claim to use less energy and therefore keep costs low.
But some up-front costs can be astounding, or at least enough to make you think twice. Is it possible to recover costs on efficiency upgrades ... efficiently?
