ST. LOUIS (AP) - The landmark Fox Theatre in St. Louis is undergoing a $2 million renovation that will bring parts of the historic building from the 1920s into the 21st century.
KSDK-TV reports the biggest improvement will be installation of a new air conditioning system. Parts of the old system date to the building's opening in 1929.
The Fabulous Fox, as the theater is widely known, will also get a new facade and new lighting. Fox officials expect the updated lighting and air conditioning to cut the building's energy consumption by half.
During the seven-week renovation, crews will also repair damage to the lobby ceiling caused by a fire in May.
The Fox hosts a wide range of shows throughout the year, from Broadway musicals to touring bands and shows.
