A Jefferson City man has been charged with stealing 17 vehicle rear axles, along with other items, from a property in Cole County this week.
Court records show Joseph Meidel, 44, 2934 Landing Creek Road, was charged with one count of second-degree burglary and one count of receiving stolen property.
As of Friday afternoon, Meidel was being held in custody at the Cole County Jail.
A Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement shows the incident occurred sometime between July 4 and July 6 in the 3000 block of Route E.
A shed on the property was broken into and items taken included a chain saw, tool box, cutting torch and a small air processor.
