Audience members applaud an address by Karen Scott just before representatives from American Family Insurance presented Helias High School with a $15,000 check for winning one of the Teen Safe Driver Pledge Program awards Tuesday evening at Rackers Fieldhouse. Helias logged the most participants in their school size division. A school in Colorado and a school in Arizona also won top prizes.
Helias Catholic High School was one of three schools to earn a $15,000 top prize in the recent Teen Safe Driver Pledge Program, sponsored by American Family Insurance.
The prize was awarded Tuesday night at half-time of the school's varsity basketball game versus Jefferson City High School.
More than 375 high schools throughout the country participated in the Teen Safe Driver Pledge, an online driver safety program that helps parents and teen-aged drivers discuss safe driving expectations.
