KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A Kansas City woman who stole nearly $720,000 from her employer is going to federal prison for six years.
The U.S. Attorney's office says 46-year-old Kim Brown won't be eligible for parole under the sentence imposed Thursday by District Judge Dean Whipple. Brown was also ordered to pay restitution to the Kansas City company where she worked as a bookkeeper.
Brown pleaded guilty in February to 16 counts of bank fraud. She admitted writing 474 unauthorized checks on the account of Standard Sheet Metal Inc. and depositing the funds into her own bank accounts.
Brown worked at the metal fabrication and installation company from 1998 to 2009. She was promoted during that time from receptionist to accounting and bookkeeping.
