Crews from Missouri American Water Company are scheduled to work today to repair a water main that broke Monday at a busy intersection in Jefferson City.
The break occurred around 10:40 a.m. at Missouri Boulevard, near the High Street viaduct at the Truman Building parking lot.
Water company officials said they had to shut off water to work on the 8-inch main. No buildings in the area were without water.
The pipe provides water for irrigation of grass and plants in the state parking lot areas.
It's believed the pipe may have cracked because of soil shifting which puts stress on pipes. This is something water crews have seen a lot of this summer because of long periods of hot, dry weather with little moisture.
