Penney Rector decided she wanted to be a lawyer when she was 12.
"But I've always thought that, if the law didn't work out, kindergarten teacher was what I wanted to be," she said last week. "I have two younger sisters (and) a brother-inlaw who are elementary school teachers."
For nine years, Rector has combined her two interests - first as a lawyer and lobbyist for the Missouri Association of School Administrators and, since July 1, as the Jefferson City Public Schools' new in-house lawyer and human resources director.
