The latest Greenway expansion has begun, crossing over into state property.

Excavation work is nearly complete on the Greenway expansion near Riverside Park with city staff preparing the area for concrete and seeding.

Wanda Seeney, public information officer in the Office of Administration, said the project expands the Greenway for 0.89 miles and is expected to be complete in November.

The bid process for all concrete and seeding work will open Thursday. After the bids have been submitted and opened, the state will begin to select a contractor, Seeney said.

Seeney said the state is not providing any funds for the Greenway, which is built with federal grant funds, but because it is coming onto state property, the state is providing an easement to enable construction and use.
