Improvement does not come cheap. That fact was reinforced by Peckham & Wright Architects Inc. in a report to the Jefferson City Public Safety Committee during its meeting Monday afternoon.
The report outlined the list of improvements that need to be made to the five different fire stations in Jefferson City, ranging from the critical to the beneficial. The estimated cost, if all of the recommended changes are made, comes to more than $3 million.
City Administrator Steve Rasmussen said items listed as critical issues, including water backflow prevention improvements and the addition of more smoke detectors in the vehicle bays and work areas, have already been addressed at a cost of more than $163,000.
