In daily life, parents have the opportunity to reinforce their child's math skills.

Whether comparing prices at the grocery store or playing board games, everyday moments can help younger students see the connection between classroom and life applications.

"As parents, we forget how much we use math and take it for granted that we know our facts," third-grade teacher Lisa Smith said.

To encourage parents to take advantage of those times, Jefferson City's Belair Elementary School hosted a Family Math Night on Tuesday, in conjunction with its annual Curriculum Night.
