Judges' legal fight continues

The lawyer for three state administrative law judges (ALJs) in the Worker's Compensation division said this week his clients will appeal their case to the Missouri Supreme Court, after the appeals court in Kansas City ruled Tuesday that Gov. Jay Nixon's administration had the legal authority to end their jobs.

"We think the (appeals court) opinion is directly contrary to the evidence that we presented during the trial in Cole County," St. Louis County lawyer John Comerford said Wednesday.

After that trial last year, Cole County Circuit Judge Jon Beetem issued a permanent injunction, preventing the Nixon administration from terminating the three judges.
