When the state lays off 50 or more employees, it would give them 60 days notice, under a bill being filed by an incoming state representative from Jefferson City.
Rep.-elect Jay Barnes, R-Jefferson City, plans to file the bill at the start of session.
"If you're going to lose your job and it's not your fault, you deserve a heads up," Barnes said in an interview on Tuesday.
Barnes, who campaigned on a platform of fighting for state employees, says the bill is about basic human decency.
