Authorities begin DWI crackdown today

Starting today, Jefferson City police and law enforcement officers nationwide will be cracking down on drunken driving with increased enforcement through Jan. 3 as part of the Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest, National Crackdown.

Jefferson City police will have extra officers on patrol, funded through a grant from the MoDOT's Highway Safety Division.

Police urge citizens to take advantage of the Sober Driver program in Jefferson City by calling 636-7102 for a free ride home if you are impaired or if you are with a driver who is impaired. Party hosts can obtain Sober Driver tickets by contacting Fechtel Beverage at 636-5161 or Sgt. Jeff Stiefermann at 634-6397.
