Mid-Missouri woman gets life for covering up son's death

CAMDENTON (AP) - A Missouri woman was sentenced to life in prison for her role in covering up the death of her 3-year-old son, which was originally reported as a hit-and run.

Jamie Ann Litton was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the 2012 death of Blake Litton, of Stover.

Litton and her boyfriend, Thomas Joseph Presley, initially claimed the boy was injured by a hit-and-run driver on Missouri 135 after he got out of the car to go to the bathroom.

Investigators said inconsistencies in the story led them to believe the child was murdered.

Presley, who injured the boy while Litton was at work, is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder.
