One injured in Jefferson City crash

One person was injured in a one-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Jefferson City.

Jefferson City Police Department reports state the crash occurred at 10:49 a.m. on southbound U.S. 63 at the U.S. 54 exit ramp.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a vehicle, driven by Gary Griffin, 71, of Jefferson City, on top of the guardrail.

Authorities believed Griffin suffered a medical emergency and lost consciousness causing him to veer to the right, off the roadway and strike the guardrail coming to a stop. Griffin was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Traffic was restricted in the area, and the exit ramp was closed for a short period of time for the vehicle to be removed from the guardrail.
