2 hurt when train hits tractor-trailer in Moniteau County

Two people were hurt when a train hit a tractor-trailer Monday afternoon in Moniteau County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred at 12:50 p.m. on U.S. 50, east of Claas Crossing.

A tractor-trailer driven by Mikel Gomez Mesa, 46, of Houston, Texas, was stopped with his trailer across the railroad tracks. That's when the train, driven by Matthew Dimmitt, 23, of Lee's Summit, struck the trailer portion of the Mesas' vehicle.

Mesa had no reported injuries. Dimmitt and his fellow worker, Rick Latham, 52, of Sedalia, were transported by ambulance to Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia for treatment of minor injuries.
