Library to mark opening of Osage County branch today

Missouri River Regional Library will celebrate the grand opening of its relocated Osage County branch from 10 a.m.-noon today.

Opening remarks and a ribbon-cutting will be at 10:30 a.m. There will be light refreshments, a tour of the new building and games throughout the morning. The ceremony will be held outside, and social distancing is requested.

The Friends of Osage County Library will also host a used book sale from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

"We are very excited to celebrate this momentous occasion with Osage County," MRRL Director Claudia Cook said in a news release. "This could not have been possible without the support of the Library Board, foundation, FOCL and our generous donors in the community. We look forward to recognizing them on Saturday."

The new library is located at 22 Library Lane in Linn.

The library system purchased the 11,000-square-foot former home of Deutsches Heim (which has downsized and moved next door) in March 2019. Work to remodel the facility to serve as a library was completed in early 2020.

The library's hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
